I originally planned to pursue a career in criminal justice after completing an accounting degree that I knew wasn't the right fit for me. As I explored my options, I realized I wanted a career where I could make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Counseling provided the missing piece. Rather than focusing on the consequences of addiction, I wanted to help people understand the underlying issues, develop healthier coping skills, and build a foundation for lasting recovery. Seeing clients grow, overcome obstacles, and rediscover hope continues to make this work both meaningful and rewarding nearly 12 years later.
I work best with clients who are willing to engage in the recovery process, even if they are unsure or struggling with change. I enjoy helping individuals explore the underlying causes of their substance use, challenge unhealthy thinking patterns, and build practical skills for long-term recovery. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe enough to be honest while also encouraging accountability. I value building genuine therapeutic relationships and find the greatest success with clients who are open to self-reflection, willing to learn, and motivated to make positive changes at their own pace.
If you’re nervous about meeting with me, you’re not alone—most people are. My goal isn’t to judge you or tell you how to live your life. I’m here to listen, understand your story, and help you figure out where you want to go from here. You don’t have to have all the answers, and you don’t have to pretend everything is okay. We’ll take things one step at a time, at a pace that feels manageable. I’ll support you, challenge you when it’s helpful, and celebrate your progress along the way. My hope is that you leave each session feeling heard, respected, and a little more hopeful than when you walked in.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, my partner, and our Great Dane. I love being outdoors, whether it's gardening, working on landscaping projects, boating, camping, or simply enjoying time at home. I also enjoy home improvement projects and finding creative ways to make our home and yard feel more welcoming. When I'm not outside, I appreciate quiet time reading, learning new things, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally. Spending time in nature and with the people I care about helps me recharge and brings balance to the work I do.
