Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience working with children?

Experience is helpful but not required. We value reliability, kindness, and a willingness to learn. Training and guidance are provided.

What ages are the children?

Children in the program are ages 0–5 (non-school-aged). This primarily includes infants and toddlers, though ages may vary depending on the families currently in the program.

When are volunteer shifts?

Volunteer times are typically during weekday programming hours. Specific days and times are shared based on your availability and current need.

What does the background check involve?

All volunteers are required to complete a caretaker and criminal background check before starting. This is standard for anyone working around children in a treatment setting. The process is explained during onboarding.

Can I volunteer just once, or do I need to commit to a regular schedule?

Both are welcome. Consistent, recurring volunteers are appreciated, but one-time help is valuable too.

Other Ways to Support
Arbor Place

While our on-site volunteer opportunities are limited, there are other impactful ways to support our mission:

Donate Items

Many people arrive at treatment with very little. We accept gently used clothing and personal hygiene items to help people feel comfortable during their stay.

Make a Financial Contribution

Financial support helps fund the programs and services that give individuals and families a starting point to recovery.

Spread the Word

Share our mission with others. Whether it's telling a colleague about our services, sharing a podcast episode, or connecting someone who needs help, awareness makes a difference.
